Disgaea 2 Manga Vol. 4: THE FINAL VOLUME!!!!!
That's no typo, people. What I just recently bought in Kinokuniya is the final volume of the Disgaea 2 manga. The preview sketches really did capture every chapter in the manga after all. I guess the only reason why it seemed incomplete is because Hekaton showed only a few seemingly insignificant scenes.
Like with the previous volume, I will be scanning this one as well. However, I won't be scanning it right away since I'm gonna be kinda busy for awhile. Don't worry, I'll get to it as soon as possible.
For now, I'm going to give a quick synopsis of what happens in the volume. If you want to wait for the scans and my usual smartass comments, however, then don't read my quick synopsis under the cut. For now, just enjoy the cover...

Hekaton, I can't believe you couldn't do the covers for the last 3 volumes like this!
The volume begins with a quick shot of a certain character who I wish made more appearances in the manga before bring us back to Veldime, where a giant holographic-ish image of Overlord Zenon is announcing his big tournament. The news reaches Etna, Laharl, Flonne, Axel, and most importantly of all, Adell, Rozalin, and the rest. Speaking of Adell, he managed to recover from his battle with Etna.
Adell is prepared to face everyone at the tournament and Zenon tomorrow, but he decides to spend the rest of the night watching the fireworks with Rozalin. I don't exactly know what they say, but I'm pretty sure Adell once again says that he promises to protect Rozalin and that there's nothing for her to worry about. Unfortunately, the Adell/Rozalin moment comes to a complete halt when Tink decides to butt in with a Nail Bat, not realizing that ruining that moment is going to cost him his life with Mama and Hanako ready to tear him shreds for it.
On the day of the tournament, Axel enters once again, trying to get his face on camera. Unfortunately, it pisses off the Succubus reporter (Disgaea 3 model) and Axel ends up running away, not noticing Laharl and Flonne disguised as both a Skull and a Kunoichi. It's during this time that Flonne reaizes that Laharl does actually miss Etna, no matter how much she pissed him off.
Speaking of Etna, Adell, Rozalin, and Yukimaru find her in the combatant waiting room. As soon as Adell walks in, she actually spends much of her time lying on top of his head before going into the arena. Once she's gone, Hanako hears about how demonic she really is, but as we all know, Hanako really begins to adore Etna.
Anyway, it's go time for Adell and Yukimaru, so they get ready for the upcoming battles. Before he leaves, Rozalin fixes Adell's tie for him and wishes him good luck and to come back alive. Adell obviously agrees to.
We really don't get much of what happens in the tournament, but we do know that Adell and Yukimaru manage to advance along with several others. Suddenly, Overlord Zenon appears before them and with an announcement that he has apparently read the Disgaea 1 manga by Arashi Shindo and decides to pull what Laharl did in that manga by having everyone who advanced killed right there. The only difference is that he's letting his pet Rifle Demon do the job for him.
The Rifle Demon's attack destroys almost all the victors, with Yukimaru and Asagi being the only survivors (Yes, Asagi is in this one). Zenon then rushes to Rozalin in the audience and is ready to take her away. However, Rozalin tells daddy that she doesn't want to go back with him and it sounds like she's questioning about everything up to now. Besides, there's someone out there she cares for.
And that someone is Adell, erupting out of the rubble. Zenon, not exactly happy about this, decides to put Rozalin to sleep and take her away. At the same time, to inflict pain on Adell, he orders his Rifle Demon to aim to fire at Adell's family.
However, just when they think they're as good as dead, Etna shows up out of nowhere and deflects the Rifle Demon's beam. Before the Rifle Demon can retaliate, Laharl jumps out of the stands, burning off his skull robe, and smashes his fist into the Rifle Demon with Blazing Knuckles with Flonne following it up with Holy Arrows.
Zenon isn't exactly fazed with the much more awesome Overlord showing up and decides to escape with Rozalin (I'm guessing he's talking about how he'll return to his castle, gain more power through amplifying the curse, and leave Veldime in a mess). Adell tells him to give Rozalin back, but that's not happening and causes Adell to break down. Luckily, Shura and Serion reveal a cauldron (Much like the one Mama uses) that will allow him to face Zenon. Unfortunately, it will cost them their life, not to mention there's still a monster on the loose.
Luckily, Laharl, being all badass in this last volume, tells him to go ahead and face Zenon while he takes care of the Rifle Demon. Etna also says that she'll be around to take care of the Rifle Demon and the two of them make it a contest to see who can kick the crap out of the demon first. Adell thanks them and jumps right into the cauldron.
As Laharl and Etna face the Rifle Demon, Shura and Serion begin to disintegrate, but as they fade, all their memories return and talk about how the young boy they left behind has grown into a man (Hekaton gives us an awesome illustration of Adell's real family).
Meanwhile, Laharl and Etna pretty much argue while they're fighting. The Rifle Demon, despite knocking back Etna earlier, is not much of a problem and the two don't really pay much attention to it. But then, Laharl says something that gets Etna to stop for a second. It's either an apology or something about him needing her to be with him back in his Netherworld. Etna finally smiles and actually gives Laharl a smallcensored kiss on the cheek (Looks like all you LaharlxEtna shippers finally have something to brag about. Still pro-LaharlxFlonne, damnit!). Flonne is happy to see the two finally come to terms with each other. However, the Rifle Demon is still alive, but he's good as dead once Laharl and Etna work together and finish it off once and for all.
At Zenon's castle, Zenon sets Rozalin aside for a moment before turning around to see Adell right there, waiting to beat his face in. The two then charge at each other and trade blow after blow. On the side lines, Axel, who managed to find his way there, has his camera zombie record the whole thing live. Adell then uses all his power to land one final blow on Zenon.
It has no effect. All it does is make Zenon resurrect his Rifle Demon and he suddenly becomes much more quicker and powerful as he lands several punches before taking Adell by the head and smashing him into the ground. During this time, Zenon tells him that he really isn't Overlord Zenon, but one of the 999 that was killed by the real Zenon long ago. However, he managed to survive and found out that Overlord Zenon reincarnated into the child of the Snow Village. After he massacred them, he took her and kept her locked up in her mansion as part of his revenge. Of course, we all know that the real Overlord Zenon is actually Rozalin.
However, Rozalin being Overlord Zenon does not matter to Adell as he readies himself to take on Fake Zenon again. Suddenly, a monsterous head appears above him as he goes berserk.
Meanwhile, Axel continues to report the whole thing and even fakes several wounds that he claims to have gotten from Overlord Zenon and passed on the battle to Adell. Everyone but Hanako, Taro, and Tink believe him.
Adell and Zenon battle again, Adell managing to hold his own. Suddenly, Zenon rushes forward and goes "Psycho Crusher" on Adell and he's launched into the air.
But just when Zenon think he's finall killed Adell, Rozalin flies up and catches him. When she sets him down, she tells him and Zenon that she heard everything about her being the real Overlord Zenon and says something that really upsets Zenon so much that he decides to blast Adell to death. Because Axel is nearby, he and his crew are caught in the blast and the video screens go out, causing his friends and family to worry (I really want to hug Hanako in this one.)
However, Adell and Rozalin are alive. I don't know if her real Zenon powers allowed them to live or she actually blasted Fake Zenon unconsciously, but regardless of what happened, Fake Zenon is fading away. Yet even after everything that has happened. After knowing her true identity, Rozalin still thinks of Fake Zenon as her real father. She grew up under him and even though she never met him, she's still his father and sheds tears for him. Oddly enough, Zenon smiles for Rozalin before he passes away. With his death, Rozalin and Adell are showered with roses.
Rozalin then has a moment of silence for Zenon and Adell pretty much agrees to it even though he still hates him for all that he had done. Afterwards, the two talk about something. Not exactly sure what it is, but I'm guessing it has something to do about her either being alone or actually being Overlord Zenon. Despite all that, Adell accepts her for who she is and embraces her. The Adell tries to comfort Rozalin before finally telling her that he loves her. It's right then and there that two finally kiss (Yes, Rozalin does kiss Adell and no, she doesn't try to shoot him in the head for it.)
Suddenly, Axel shows up and it turns out he saw everything. Actually, not just him but pretty much ALL of Veldime. There's even a shot of Adell's family and friends as well as Etna and Flonne loving every minute of it (Laharl actually tries to look away, but Flonne, who latched onto him, is getting him to watch). Obviously, this doesn't make either of them happy and Rozalin gives him his punch of the day.
Adell and Rozalin then return to the site of the tournament where everyone congratulates them. Yukimaru also introduces everyone to Fubuki, who she found not too long ago with Asagi in his Prinny form. Mama then goes to Adell to give him the two masks and pretty much tells him that these masks belonged to his parents and Adell is happy that they watched over him to the very end, even sacrificing their lives for him. Then, Laharl, Etna, and Flonne decide that it's time to go, but before Adell and the rest reaize it, Hanako has gone with them.
In the last few pages, we fast forward to some time later when Adell gets a letter from Hanako. Basically, everyone but Hanako had reverted back to their human form (Unlike in the novels, Hanako stays in her demon form). Yukimaru and Fubuki pretty much chill with Adell's family. Tink...he's still a frog. Yup, Hekaton didn't draw human Tink and he's apparently incased in ice. As for Hanako, she's having blast over at Laharl's Netherworld with Etna and the rest, though Laharl and Etna are STILL fighting over snacks. Still, she hopes for he best and wishes Adell and Rozalin good luck.
Speaking of Rozalin, she hugs Adell from the behind. Disgaea 2 ends with one last kiss in the grass.
As always, we do have a bonus chapter, but I'm sure we've all seen it already. It's the chapter where Mao and the rest invade Disgaea 2 and talk about Disgaea 3, ending with Laharl being all "WTF!? Disgaea 3!?"
And that's it. My full thoughts regarding the final volume will be included in my scans post.
