Vic kinda bothers me on a more personal level due to how much of an egotistic ass he is irl (Although that brief time when FMA was still fairly new and not that popular yet, he used to be pretty awesome). What's even more annoying is that his army of raving fangirls are the ones that are fueling it and most of them are way too stupid to even notice it in the first place.

I don't generally have a problem with his voice or his acting even though every role he does sounds almost exactly the same, and can usually still enjoy anything with him in it. It's just when I take the time to think about it it's just... mreh. :|

tbh I never actually heard a whole lot of D3 in Japanese. Although what I have actually heard of it, strangely enough I think I actually like the English cast more over all. I think it's partly due to a lot of character sounding completely different (like Mao) and by then I was too used to the English dub, and also most of the actual story in D3 was just way too bland 80% of the time that I really just couldn't care. Really I was gonna try to do a whole playthrough in Japanese one cycle (like I generally try to do with every N1 game after I beaten it once) but I ended up getting so bored with it I started to skip almost every scene after the first episode.

And idk, Geoffrey never sounded subtle in any language, but I think that was more his writing's fault

But rambling off again. I know exactly what you mean about personality changes through voices. Usually the voice can still 'work' with them, but yeah, it can completely change that character and worse yet can completely alter everything else and can give a totally different message across. Which is also why I generally favor Japanese over dub because that's how it originally was supposed to sound (even though some sites love to bicker over that), it just... for some reason didn't work for me with D3 orz

Soul Nomad has that same problem too though. Japan's Gig sounds a lot more classy, smarter, and more of a wiseass while ours(Yuri's) is way more brash loud and arrogant. Both versions still work in their own way, and I like them both, but for two completely different reasons. There's probably other examples out there too but I can't think of any.

Good gawd I ramble orz
