Disgaea infinite is out!

Looks like Disgaea infinite has been released!

And there's a review already, wow, that was fast!
Here
It isn't a very positive one though...

There's also this interview:

Not surprised. Visual Novels are pretty much "You like it because of the story" or "You hate it because it's all story and no game". Of course that didn't stop magazines from raving about how awesome Heavy Rain is...

Or Ace Attorney.

Sounds like he reviewed it poorly because he got lucky with it in the worst possible way. I had to go through I'm pretty sure almost every conversation in the first part of the game getting clues before I took the, uh, "good end" path. I would have been pretty irked had I stumbled upon said path by accident, too.

Though that doesn't quite excuse his not realizing there's more to do after keeping Laharl from exploding...

so this game is like a choose your own adventure book or something?

i don't know anyone that plays disgaea games for their "deep story". the story has always been the icing on the cake of awesome strategy gameplay. ace attorney has good stories and though I only played the heavy rain demo it seemed to have a deeper story than uh what's this game about? magical hell pudding or something? no, no that plot for a story based game? it's a fan game. cause it's getting poor reviews doesn't mean much to the fan. the naruto fighting games (nintendo ones, not the sony ones) are fun with amazingly deep gameplay but they never get very good scores. most non-fans can't get past the anime stigma.

... if he finished the game and still hasn't figured out who is behind the explosion, he's doing it wrong.

Laharl: Prinny Squad, gather! To my bedroom immediately!

I really hope you didn't mean it that way, Prince...

I've been playing it and I just came here to see if anyone was even going to ever make a post about it or if I was going to have to make it myself. I was beginning to wonder if nobody cared about it? I, for one, have been waiting for it. It's a crazy-ass Disgaea game, but instead of game, it's like a movie or, you guessed it, novel. It's the crazy, hilarious story parts of Disgaea without the level grinding. If you like Disgaea 1 only for the constant grinding then I feel sorry for you. It has a great story. I, for one, enjoy both aspects of the game. Anyway...

I'm afraid to read that review because it may spoil the game for me, right? Not sure if it will or not...but judging from you guys' comments, it sounds like it would. I don't know about others, maybe I'm just an idiot, but it's taking me a surprising amount of time to get past the "who dunnit". Yeah, I think I would be upset too, if I luckily (or unluckily) stumbled upon the correct path the first few times I tried, but fortunately (or, again, unfortunately?) that hasn't been the case. I'm enjoying it, even though it can get even frustrating at times...I'm tired of Laharl exploding.

However, the hilariously awkward mind control moments make this entire game worth the measly $20 in my opinion. :) Some are just okay, but others are really great. And in a day where video games are f*cking $60...well, I'm pretty content with what I've bought.

So, anyway, I'm off to try and get Laharl to quit exploding now, and to continue "collecting" every absolutely useless item I can. :)

Well, but...

I just got it, I'm really excited, but... MY CASE WAS MADE WRONG. The entire casing on the front is GONE. However, I don't want to have to return the game to Amazon, so I'll make a makeshift casing... You know, seran wrap or something... *sadness*

I just got the database entry for Laharl's Mom and...

DAMNIT NI! You just HAD to reference the novels that we'll never get to read!

Can't wait to see it!

RPGFan's review is far more generous.
