Translation of a few parts of the articles :

- Mao was designed with "mad scientist" look in mind.
- Raspberyl is Mao's rival to be best student. She wants to surpass him no matter what. (...Yet her title is...)
- Almaz is a HERO OTAKU hahaha. He sounds really timid in the screenshots, or perhaps not very confident. This goes with "Lame Hero" that's written next to him in one of the scans. Also, he might have something to do with the white haired lady ontop, because there's reference to a "princess he wants to protect" in his description.

- Eringa, Merchant girls *(PB), Chefs* (MK), and Saber Kitties (PB) are back.

*Unsure of what their class titles are in this game.

- Combos are diagonal now.
- Succubus are back (they REALLY look like Prier D: )
- Mao's father is an Overlord, and he's his only child.
- Almaz is a "self proclaimed Hero". Hahaha. ( 自称勇者 )
- Mao considers Almaz his "target" ...uh? (Could be the other way around. Almaz considers Mao his target)
- Almaz uses rather polite Japanese.
- Apparently Mao and Almaz are rivals by nature.
- Mao's title is Netherworld's Honor Student
- Mao's glasses show he's a youngster. Can't forget correcting your vision in your youth! I guess?
- Raspberyl's title is "Netherworld Delinquint"
- Almaz's title is "Hero"
- Mao's title is "Netherworld's Honor Student"

If anyone wants to help make a more coherent translation, please feel free to comment. (And correct things I might have gotten wrong.)

In the comment by Harada it says he's[Almaz] the second main character of the game, which is why he has a red thing around his neck (it's the rule of Disgaea character design apparently?! so that's why he does it all the time) and the white gakuran is a takeoff of student council presidents in old anime TV shows. HEE. Apparently he wants to be a hero for this princess he has a crush on, but he's not actually strong at all and ends up losing the title of Hero to Mao, and now he's starting to turn into a DEMON without it. Oh poor guy

I can see he's going to make me cry with laughing and laugh with crying already. When he meets Mao he offers to save him (?!) and then to be his private tutor in becoming a hero, and then says "Eeek! Er, what's with those blazing eyes and drool like you're looking at an animal...? It's kind of creepy.." He's going to SOOO get exploited left and right, this guy. いやな予感がするんですけど。。。

Mao's is also very promising. In the Netherworld school the most obnoxious evil students are the honor students, and Mao is the most elite honor student ever XDD;;; His father is a Maoh (har har har) and Mao wants to defeat him, but his analysis of many video games has led him to believe that only a Hero can defeat a Dark Lord. So while Mao doesn't actually like humans or Heroes, he decides to become a Hero. So he can beat up his dad. Okayyyyyy...

Also he is a mad scientist and when he finds a research specimen his glasses blaze (erk) and has a red crescent-shaped scar from when he was a child. Oh God it's Harry Potter.

And the heroine Rasberyl is the number one delinquent in the school, which in this context means someone who always goes to class, likes volunteering, and never forgets her homework. She's also Mao's childhood friend and rival, and the heroine and mascot character (x_x Haradaaaa) of the game.

According to the interview a few pages later, they worked pretty hard on surpassing the previous games' quality, not only with increasing the details on the sprites but with textures and lighting and modeling.

Uh, am I the only one who immediately went "Wtf? The Defender of Earth? Gordon?" when they talk about how Almaz is a "lame self-proclaimed hero"?
Seen, it, been there, done that. Please tell me it's a little different this time, and not just different as in "He's not a lame hero trying to protect earth, he's a lame hero trying to.....".

Also, reused sprites never used to get on my nerves, but N1 sure has fixed that. It's starting to really disappoint me, I don't know why. I'm so glad the Ronin is back, though =D I can't wait to create a killer ronin and ninja side by side.

Also, N1, STOP MAKING NEW OVERLORD'S GOD DAMN'T.
I'm just assuming that, since Mao is the only son of some overlord, it's of course a new one.

It's nothing like Defender of Earth Gordon, he's just a kid with a hero title that really wants to try hard to be a hero in order to impress a princess he has a crush on. Because he can't keep his title he loses it and starts slowly turning into a demon. Oops.

I honestly don't mind the overlord theme sometimes. It's like asking game companies to stop making human characters as the main characters, it's just what they do.

And yes, it's probably a new overlord. Who knows.

Heh, thanks to nenena for the lovely scans and charmwitch for reposting the info! XD Here are some more translated details:

The staff thought a lot about which system to make the game for, but since they have such a long history with Sony and they think PS3 has a lot of potential, they went for that. Also they say if more people buy PS3s just for this game, they'll be very grateful. As for using the PS3's power - they considered making the battlefields larger, but they thought that would just make the player lost. So they ended up making fields the same size, but much more detailed.

Plus, they say that you can usually tell graphical advancement by the number of polygons, but as a company they really like 2D, so... XD;

N1's motto is that games are works of art but also commercial works, so their goal with Disgaea 3 is to make a game that will make their fans happy. Also, they like messing around with crazy ideas the bigger studios wouldn't touch, and there's a whole lot of fun stuff (parodies maybe?) that got thrown into this one apparently.

Jiiya seems to have a trick device for every occasion (there's a 'Hero Radar' described in one screenshot) but they aren't actually all that useful. However, it seems that his Demon Power or whatever may actually be quite a bit stronger than Mao's. (So he has secrets..)

Raspberyl's fighting style resembles that of a monster for some reason, unlike Mao and Almaz's, which are those of a normal humanoid-type fighter... maybe. (There's a question mark after 'normal' in the text.) Also, she likes to leave 10 minutes early to get to class. And when Harada was thinking up a mascot for this game, it somehow turned out that the heroine was the mascot... --;;;

Since monsters join the party too, they wanted to make them more useful, so N1 concentrated a bit on that and monsters also have skills.

There's a new skill system where you can learn and equip different skills; since there's a limit to the amount of skills you can have at a time, they want the player to try out different combinations. When you pick up a monster and use it as a weapon, that character acquires the monster's skills, too. You can also pick up items on the field and use them as weapons, but they note that you can still buy and equip stuff ahead of time.

As for Almaz, I mostly translated the info about him already, but a slight correction - the sentence that I interpreted as him getting treated badly in class is more general than that, and may just mean that Mao plays tricks of him. It's: "Although he should be an honor student, now that he's in the Netherworld it'll be exciting to see what kinds of adverse reactions he gets."

It'll be interesting to go into a tough battle, not over-leveled just yet, and have your enemies pick up some awesome weapon/item on the level that gives them a huge advantage, and then you lose... :P

It seems she have a gold paris hat too. No, Nevermind. It's white. She's the second person doing the towering attack. Mao is holding her. Are you sure that's a succubus?
