GameInformer gives Disgaea 3 an 8.25 (Second opinion: 8)
Concept: Tell an amusing, cute story that constantly breaks the fourth wall and isn't afraid to poke fun at nerd culture
Graphics: This is getting embarrassing. The art direction is great and all, but this would look at home on the PSone.
Sound: The music is more hit-and-miss than in previous Disgaeas, but when it's good it's great. Do yourself a favor and turn the voiceovers to Japanese - the English ones are on par with crappy anime from the '80s
Playability: A few interface tweas make the intimidating complexity easy to absorb
Entertainment: It's still enjoyable, but Disgaea's level grinding forumla is starting to get stale.
Replay Value: Moderate
I'm actually surprised that GameInformer didn't really penalize Disgaea 3 for it's graphics. I expected most gaming magazines to drop Disgaea 3 to 7 or even 6 because of it, so it's a nice surprise that it at least scored over an 8. But I do disagree on their opinions on sound since Disgaea 3's music is probably the best out of the Disgaea series for me (Third best out of all the NI games I've played) and though Mao might take a bit of time getting used to at first, the voice acting, like in most NI games, is really good, especially Geoffrey/Jiiya and Raspberyl.
