NIS art books

I just bought a new art book featuring Takehito Harada's work. This particular one is called Takehito Harada Art Works I. This particular book covers all of the NIS games Harada has done work for (All Disgaea games, Phantom Brave, Makai Kingdom, Prinny), manga, light novels, and even stuff that only appeared on Japanese promo items such as Weiss Schwarz, posters, postcards, and phone cards which never made it into other specifically designated art books and cds(World of Disgaea, character collections) is included in this book. This is not the same book as the one gibbboy posted. That one is called Disgaeart!! and just released which is about a month after this particular book.

I'd love to make some scans, but my scanner is no longer operational and the book is bound in a way where I feel I can't scan anything without damaging the binding. So due to that, I'll have to suffice with some lame shots with my camera to show you guys whats in it.

EDIT: I added a few more shots for anyone else who is on the fence about this.

Finally, this is the cover of the newly released Disgaeart!! book. The cover is really cute. I like how every girl has their specific partner chibified and in their arms.

 

Anyways, I paid about $50 for Art Works I at Kinokuniya and buying it online from a Japan-based retailer will cost the same due to the weight of the book with SAL shipping. It'll be more expensive with EMS. I have to say, this book is well worth it and I'm certain the newly released one will be worth every penny as well. Art Works I seems to be selling out rather quick as of the moment, so if you want nab one, now is the time to get it. More will most likely be produced as the weeks pass by though.

I'm amazed that I haven't seen a lot of this art. I'm usually up to date on promotional artwork, but damn we've all been missing out. I've never seen this one before.

I'm reading the footnotes and some of them say they were done for Nippon GAMES which I believe is their mobile gaming department.

It seems to be sold out at most retailers. Even bk1 has it at ships after 7-21 days. I just looked on Kinokuniya's website and the New York apparently has both this book and Disgeart!! available. There's English forms of the shopping cart available. Even if they don't have it in stock, they will be able to procure a copy if you're patient.

Amazon JP tends to have crazy expensive (albeit fast) shipping to the US, so I usually go with HMV. Last I checked, they were sold out as well, though. =/

I wish I could scan these, but even if I had a working scanner, the binding is so tight that I can't even scan the whole image.

I understand, I wouldn't want to harm the binding either.

But I'm curious, he's not the one who originally drew the Marl/LP characters, but we have Cherie and Cornet in there. Is there more of these? I'm just curious on his take on those characters.

That's correct, Harada didn't originally draw them. He drew that one blonde girl with the red kitty ears cap(forgot her name). He's also done his own take on Soul Cradle/Nomad characters before. Harada tried his hand at Danette.

Scratch that, I got DisgaeArt. I'm probably going to order the Takehito artbook too, but I'm gonna have to wait until I get DisgaeArt because DisgaeArt is $42. Man, these artbooks are getting really expensive.

That's due to the USD becoming so much weaker to the Japanese yen. The rate is like 75 yen to the dollar. Four years ago, these books averaged between $25-30

SO MUCH SQUEE. We have been missing out. ;A; That's some amazing art, omg. To see him drawing even some of the Rhapsody chars is a surprise (I really like how he draws them though *A* ) and the pic of Laharl, Ash, Adell and Zetta is squee *A* And the chibi one... *O*

Hmm, some of the pictures that are on the edge of the pages like that wouldn't be so hard to scan since could have the book hanging out of the scanner, but shame a lot couldn't be. =( If someone gets these books can take larger photos though... that would be pretty sweet? :D;;;

I just picked up both books at the Kinokuniya store in NYC. Put them on hold earlier today and stuff. I think it was worth it.

Yeah, I saw that NYC Kinokuniya had both of them in stock. My copy is ready to pick up at the LA branch. I'll be getting it this weekend.
