Lamington does explain it or at least I think he does. The problem is that it requires someone with a MUCH better grasp on the Japanese language to really get what some of the exposition in that scene (Again, much of what I say is based on observations, listening to the voice acting, and apply the bits and pieces of Japanese that I know). I'll try and watch it again and see if I can pick anything apart.

Oh my god. Oh my god. I was actually trying to dig around cause OST I WANT IT. BUT I stumbled... oh 2ch I guess google came up with and I stumbled onto this from Chrome:

Yeah, I think that's more or less taiga's theory and watching the scene, it's kinda adding up to that theory. Laharl's Mom was pregnant with Sicily but she had to save Laharl and didn't want to lose either of them even though she knew she could never truly be with them again so as she died she pleaded for Lamington to save Sicily and he brought her to life as a Demon-Angel.

Wait she knew she was pragnant at the time? Wow, that is even worse when what I thought it would be, I can't properly express how sad I feel for Laharl's mother right now, I just don't know...

And sadly, that makes one of the bad endings even worse.

Because of the uniqueness behind her birth, Sicily was the only one who had the power to stop Xenolith's power from going out of control. But you know what that requires? A sacrifice. You can probably guess how Laharl feels about this.

*sob* Whoever sets the rules of the Disgaea universe needs to value life more, sacrifice this and sacrifice that *sob*, Disgaea universe’s god is an first class a$$hole!

Though I should have known based on Disgaea 4...

It's really sad that Laharl's life is pretty much ruled by sacrifice. He's alive because his mother sacrificed her life to cure Laharl of his disease. Krichevskoy performed a Heroic Sacrifice to seal away Baal and prevent him from taking over the Netherworld. Flonne allowed herself to be punished so that he and everyone else would not suffer (Even though she thankfully returns to life). Sicily in the bad ending sacrifices her life to stop Xenolith's power from going out of control. And heck, Laharl himself nearly sacrifices himself to bring Flonne back to life.

It really, REALLY is. ._. If that bad end came to be... Laharl... god. To lose someone else like THAT would just be... breaking, I think. @___@
