NISA officially says it: No La Pucelle: Ragnarok. Buy our other games instead.

“All right. No, we will not be able to bring it over. We’ve got a lot of fantastic new titles lined up for 2011, and we think fans will get pumped over those even though we can’t bring LP:R out of Japan. For those who’ve supported it over the years, thank you very much for your efforts, but in the end, we won’t be bringing it out of Japan.”

I find it a bit odd that they felt they had to officially announce it... especially since most of the NISA board and most other boards as well knew that it wasn't coming. Especially since there's been plenty of non official 'noes' going around.

I'm still way pissed off at that comment.

But like some people have said, at least they came out with it unlike Bamco Namdai US

I don't know about that, Tales games are still a niche games, even if it seems like it has a large fanbase. But anyway, now I just need to definitively know about Antiphona and then I can GET OVER IT and just import them.

*siiiiigh* Should have known. :( Good thing I bought the PS2 game when I saw it then.

Still would have been nice to have.

I still can't understand why they're refusing to bring over La Pucelle Ragnarok yet it seemed like they were okay bringing over the Phantom Brave port the second it was announced. I'm pretty sure those without a Wii will enjoy it, but it really rubs me the wrong way.

And the Prier scene in Prinny 2 was really getting my hopes up. Btw anyone felt that the scene was teasing the supposed La Pucelle sequel.

[identity profile] tirachan.livejournal.com 2011-01-25 08:13 am (UTC)(link)
I haven't played any of the Prinny games (no PSP), but Prier makes a guest appearance?? I would like to see that. :D

I thought the whole thing of "See La Pucelle Round 2" in Disgaea 2 was a big tease as well.

Aww, this is upsetting.
Weren't they going to make it a trilogy for the PSP? Or was that dropped.

[identity profile] shinhawk.livejournal.com 2011-01-25 08:49 am (UTC)(link)
Speaking for myself, I really don't care that Ragnarok is coming stateside. I played the PS2 version plenty and even with extra content, I've pretty much moved on. I do agree with how its strange that Phantom Brave Portable is being localized right away while this was ignored. Honestly, I wish NISA wouldn't waste their time with it.

[identity profile] shinhawk.livejournal.com 2011-01-25 11:41 pm (UTC)(link)
*is not

[identity profile] nalina.livejournal.com 2011-01-25 09:28 am (UTC)(link)
I wish they'd give a reason. :x Why bring over another version of Phantom Brave instead of this? That makes no sense.

Sigh. ;-;

[identity profile] nalina.livejournal.com 2011-01-25 01:38 pm (UTC)(link)
...Point. :(

orz

They just have to plug in the ol' script and voices and they're pretty well done, eh?

LP would need whole new translation/casting/voices.

Sob. Although, I could live without a dub. They'd prolly epic mangle names and everything anyways. I just want to be able to reaaaaaad it. ;-; ...You know, recently on youtube I saw a vid of someone playing BBS Final Mix with a "english patch" ...all the boxes, everything? English. I wonder how that's accomplished... though I imagine it's with great difficulty and a emulator or unlocked psp. =3=

(And I was thinking this morning this just makes their recent Prinny 2 name mangling now feel like insult to injury. Deny us our game and then mangle our favourite character's names. Thanks NISA.)

To be fair, some people who have Wiis might not have PSPs and vice versa, and neither group may have had a PS2, or have been able to have get it. Not only that, it's easy to sell (almost, if not completely, totally translated from the get go, plus it can be downloadable off of PSN and the like) so it's quick and easy money, and N1 DOES need that right now, right?

Hell, even though I have all THREE systems, I'm personally really looking forward to PBPSP and it'll be my first time playing it too. And I don't think I'm in the minority there.

That said, yeah, it's still disappointing, but what can you do?

[identity profile] nalina.livejournal.com 2011-01-26 06:15 pm (UTC)(link)
Just hope they have a change of heart in a year or two, I guess? ^.^

But, yeah, it just sucked a lot for me cause La Pucelle is one of the few I don't actually own a copy of yet still. orz So a version for my PSP woulda been amazing. I guess I'll bite the bullet eventually, and import it. Taiga managed to get through it, so I imagine I could work my way through it too. lol

But, despite seeming like it, I am actually very excited for PSP Phantom Brave cause I don't own a Wii. I really do love PB and I was gonna buy a copy for Wii anyways, but I won't have to now. lol And, yeaaaah, NIS definitely could use the easy money right now. I can't blame them for it in that sense.

I think it's the fact they don't even seem open to potentially one day, even if not any time soon...

Dear goddess I feel grumpy right now, my hopes has been crushed.

NISA I don't like you guys right now, after ditching La Pucelle: Ragnarok Request and Princess Antiphona's Hymn, I no longer have any faith in that you will localize all of your parent company's wonderfull games and because of the Prinny 2 voices I don't have faith in that you will do them justice then you do decide to localize them. I guess the only I can trust is that you will do the main Disgaea series justice, thanks to it's popularity, but that is about it.

I don't want to think of myself as your fan anymore, but Nippon Ichi Software (The Best of Japan IMO) exclusively. I will buy anything related to Nippon Ichi Software that you release in the future, but you are for now a disappointment to me.

[identity profile] shinhawk.livejournal.com 2011-01-26 08:34 am (UTC)(link)
If you haven't done so, you should email that message to NISA.

[identity profile] maharl.livejournal.com 2011-01-26 12:39 pm (UTC)(link)
I have posted it on their forum, so I don't know if I should send it to them as well, would that be redundant? Not to mention they probably don't care, as I will still buy their products as I said in the post.

Ehhhh, I don't know how I feel about this. On the one hand, La Pucelle was pretty nifty, and it's been overlooked for a while. I was lucky to find a used copy I guess!

On the other hand, I'm kind of growing tired of the NIS Policy of porting every game to every system ever. I mean, isn't this part of the reason that NIS is in financial trouble?

I think I'm okay with porting games that need attention, (I was THRILLED to get Rhapsody on DS) but I don't need Disgaea: Lunch Hour of Darkness on my toaster.

Has it even been said if they /can/ and just don't want to or /can't/ at all?
