mario_zxA new video has been released that shows off a massive amount of things in Disgaea 5. It also gives us a look at the opening anime for the game.
Also listened to the new song on the site. This game is looking like it will surpass Disgaea 3 as having my favorite sound track. Also It seems as though we will be able to have custom character palettes.

mario_zxThe new issue of Dengeki Playstation have come out and it has a big amount of info on Disgaea 5.
It first gives us a look of the chibi group shot with out that pesky PS4 logo on it and is anyone else curious about what the heck that thing behind Void Dark is. Whenever I look at it I can't help but get the feeling that Void Dark isn't going to be the final boss.
It then goes on to give us a look at the opening anime and then shows the previous 4 protagonist.
The next page shows us all the characters Killia, Seraphina, Usalia but then it shows us the first real good look at the mysterious blonde haired girl.
The page after that shows us some of the systems such as the Master-Apprentice system and a new event system which from the looks of it seems to be similar to the Tales of Series skits. At the bottom it shows off a bunch of the classes including the new Luchador class.
The next page then shows us a bunch of the systems that will be used in the game such as magi-change, double magi-change, and a new look at Killia's Mao-ougi. The bottom of the page shows off even more classes including the new Pirate and Zombie Maid classes.
The second to last page is the most interesting one as it shows off the item world and a new thing which I am not sure about. It also has a special interview and shows off even more classes, including the magic knight, the Male Angel, and a bunch of monster classes including a two headed dragon and a headless knight riding what looks to be a bone dragon.

New D5 Article with a bunch of Info

The gematsu article shows off the new squad system which seems to be a evolution of the clubs from disgaea 3. The squads known right now are the rookie which shares exp, the foot soldiers where the more memebers the better the stats and the flat chest squad where if characters are female and have a flat chest the get a stat boost. It also explains that squads can level up to give more benefits to the members and that there are squad attacks where the entire squad will attack an enemy squad all members of the enemy squad will be damaged. It also shows off double magichange which seems to be different from dual magichange where instead of two weapons you get a fused monster weapon.
Also we get some info on the new classes the pirate class specializes in guns and gets a 15% damage boost for each panel between them and the enemy. The Kitsune gets a stat boost depending on how much of the bonus gauge you have filled up. The phantom those anubis looking monsters use the evil eye and give a 5% debuff, and the teensy demons the new red guys have a 30% damage boost when fighting weaker enemies. The Wicked bear is the final new class that we are told about and the get a boost of 5% for every hit taken. The article then have videos showcasing Void Dark, Majorita, and Bloodis, moves and the new alliance attack system for unique characters.

They show off the final two characters that will most likely be making up Killias traveling band, the Ninja and the Wizard guy.
The scans also show off some of the new classes. Including what I think is a new version of the Majin Class. Also it seems to show that Skill comboing will be coming back. Along with that we also get a glimpse of Character creation, and the master student learning system will be coming back as well. Also it seems that we will be able to have more than just two Evilities.

Disgaea 5 Display Contest

It seems they're trying to get entries by 10/17, which is essentially only a day away (in Japan). The cool thing is these contests mean you can get some really high quality images of Disgaea 5 without watermarks and transparent backgrounds.

gibbSo I just received my Dengeki Playstation magazine in the mail, and it reveals the name of the large reddish (zetta-like) demon with the single horn. His name appears to be "Red Magnus" (レッドマグナス). His voice actor appears to be Takehito Koyasu 子安武人 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Takehito_Koyasu) if I'm translating the kanji correct. Coincidentally, he also voiced Overlord Zetta in a couple of games (not Makai Kingdom, but Disgaea 2 and Phantom Brave).
I feel like I'm in the twilight zone a bit here, because I can't find ANY news articles about Red Magnus anywhere on Japanese or US game sites. This magazine came out last Thursday, so it's odd to think nobody has mentioned the new character name yet.

I'm really liking the music and the spaceship main base. Also Usalia rolling around on the yellow prinny is cute.

Milestone reached in my Disgaea legacy

Since that day, I've been relatively obsessed with Disgaea games and news, to the point where I warned my girlfriend of a few months (at the time) that I would need my 'Disgaea-time' every once in a while when a new game or port came out. She accepted, even going so far as to say "it's cute how much you like Disgaea."
Over these past 11 or so years, I've spent a considerable amount of time playing Disgaea games, but surprisingly, I've never really explored the depths of the post game content as much as the typical fan. Usually how I play my Disgaea is I create a ton of characters, usually as many as is allowed, and I strive to keep them relatively similarly powered and leveled. If somebody starts to fall considerably behind, I'll spend a couple hours making him/her/it relevant again.
So last night I finally reached a milestone, playing Disgaea 4 on the Vita. I leveled a character to 9999. Prior to this I think my highest ever character was likely in the low 6000's in Disgaea D2. My first 9999 is a nekomata named Nina, who I've recreated in every game so far that has had a nekomata class. Shortly after that, I got Desco to 9999, and Fenrich is not far behind at 8900 or so.
Next up on my list of milestones to complete is to get a level 40 weapon.
Does anybody else remember the first time they got to 9999? Or the first time they got a Yoshitsuna, or the first time they defeated Baal?

I wonder what they're going to do in those 16 chapter. It also reassures us that the despite the more serious storyline, the Disgaea brand humor will still remain intact. Also, a US release has been confirmed but there is no date yet. However, we can probably expect it to see during the Fall as always.
