I am wondering, has anyone here read the light novels? I fell upon an entry on TV Tropes regarding them, and it blew my mind. I have burning questions and am illiterate in Japanese. Is there anyone out there?

And if this is not allowed, please do not hesitate to slap me. D:

I read on TV tropes that Laharl's Aunt Yasurl/Yasuruu is responsible for Laharl's aversion to busty women. What exactly did she do to him?! D:

I haven't read all of the novels, but I read most of them pre-2009. Er, did you have a specific question about them, or something?

Implied heavy abuse. Laharl's resistance to poison was thanks to her trying that trick on him a few hundred years ago. As Etna jokingly put it, "Thank your aunt~"

And, um, sorry if I'm bothering you by butting in like this, but I've been curious for awhile. Is it Vesuvio or Yasurl who is Krichevskoy's sibling? I mean, Vesuvio looks similar to Krichevskoy in some of the recent art of him, but at times it looks like Yasurl has the antennae.

Man, I come back from working out and all this information is trickling out. Okay, I wanna know a bit about Ozonne and Vesuvio's twin children.

Kira, the older brother is the main antagonist of book 2. He actually died at birth, and is a ghost that inhabits Shas's body from time to time, and although most demons can tell that something is wrong when he inhabits Shas's body, only Jane saw through his true nature. He knows he has the chance of a snowball in hell of actually winning Laharl, so he takes Shas hostage by constantly doing a body switch to avoid getting OHKO'd. And since Laharl has to protect Jane at the same time, Kira forced him into the most disadvantageous situation possible.

He got killed off by Flonne by the "Cast Revive on a Zombie" trick. Was pretty awesome. Now he's a Prinny forced to serve in Celestia for 100000 years, under the crime of 'attempting to assassinate the overlord'.

Shas really likes to lay dangerous traps for Laharl. All of them fatal, but she considers it 'play', however, she's not actually as evil as Kira is, and is rather fond of Laharl(although how she expresses it is...questionable). During the climax of the story attempts to reject Kira from her body, causing Kira to try a forced takeover. Cue Etna going "Hey, are you really find with a girl's body?" Kira hesitating, and Flonne casting omega heal on him, blasting him to shreds.

Flonne is all kinds of awesome in this book. Haven't read too much about Ozonne yet.

By the end of book 2, Flonne and Etna are pretty much confirmed to have feelings for Laharl. In fact, that's what the antagonist takes advantage of; trying to play them against each other by making them think that Laharl prefers one over the other.

Hey guys, I'm right with you on being shocked and even sad at learning some of this stuff from the novels that they don't mention in the games, (the novel canon doesn't have to be the same as the game canon, as someone else also stated), but, just a friendly little reminder that none of this is REAL, lol. Some of these reactions are a bit over the top...not trying to offend anybody, but, somewhere during reading this entire comments page I started feeling less shocked and sad about Laharl's situation (which, could be argued is just his situation in the novels to make for a more interesting and emotionally-wrenching novel), and way more shocked at some of you guys' incredibly upset, sad, and even scared reactions to it...lol.

Also, many people are exaggerating, no one is really crying or flipping out. We are all quite aware that Laharl is not real, thanks.

Erm, yeah, what they ^ said. I certainly was not actually crying or upset. o.O; I was more bouncing in my chair in excitement and glee to learn stuff about the novels. |D Aka fangirling shamelessly. I was a little shocked too when i read about this, but Laharl ended up being a great Overlord and more or less stable. One would think that when he got the tittle of Overlord he would like to punish his aunt, but it seems he didn't do it, good for him.

And this is a little bit off-topic but, i want to ask the people that already read the light-novels something.
In one of the novels (i think it's one before Laharl travels back in time) Laharl is invited to visit Celestia by Lamington and there he meet Flonne's family, could someone tell me more about Flonne's family? and what was their reaction when they meet Laharl and Etna please?

It's actually in the one before.

Flonne's parents Terre and Elle are extremely courteous and polite towards Laharl, thanking him quite profusely for taking care of their daughter...in their eyes, Flonne is a ridiculously clumsy child. Laharl seems a bit shocked at their treatment, and acts relatively...nice around them. However, he's quickly traumatized by their guest bedroom, filled with encouraging words like "Love will save the world" and posters of people smiling while making the peace sign. Even their brand of tea(which Laharl rather liked at first) is named "Hope and Love". The whole situation is further worsened the next morning by Terre greeting Laharl with "Ohhh! Such a hopeful and bright morning! Right, Laharl?" accompanied with glomp and kisses.

Ozonne and Laharl struck it on right away. Since she's a pragmatist that values money over love, she immediately got Laharl's favor, and he even permitted her to call him "Laharl" without any suffixes.

Thank you so much for answering all this questions, I like many other have been wondering about this for a long time.
I have been wanting to read the light novels since I got to know about them, but since alot of Disgaea games transaction to other mediums have not had the greatest track record(by that I mean like the anime), I was afraid the novels were not of good quality, my biggest fear was that the characterisation of the characters was not up to par with the games, but your answers have eased my suspicion, and now I want to read them even more.

I hope you don't mind if I ask somthing as well, then Vyers becomes an angel(I assume), how does Laharl react? I was under the impression that Laharl knew who Vyers was at the end of Disgaea 1, and I presume he might have in the first novel as well, Vyers did descend with Laharls mother after all, does Laharl ask about her when he sees "angel" Vyers?

He's actually pretty happy to see Mid-boss, but Mid-boss just popped in, showed off a little, and popped out, so he didn't really have any time to converse with him. However, in the 5th volume, Mid-boss joins in the fight against Sakura because he's absolutely pissed that she mistreated Gwen. Laharl knew who he was, and Etna is aware as well.
